Muertos Make Splash: Marcel Kacmarik Drafted 9th Overall in LTLHL Entry Draft -

TUCSON, AZ – The Tucson Muertos made their intentions clear at the Season 5 LTLHL Entry Draft, selecting highly-touted defenseman Marcel Kacmarik with the 9th overall pick. The 18-year-old blueliner, known for his offensive prowess and strong two-way play, is expected to make an immediate impact on the Muertos' roster.
Kacmarik's draft stock soared after an impressive junior season, where he amassed a remarkable 63 points in 82 games, tallying 9 goals and 54 assists. The Muertos coaching staff has high expectations for Kacmarik, signaling that he will be slotted into a top-line role, partnering with veteran defenseman Luke Vanni. This pairing is anticipated to form a formidable duo, providing both offensive firepower and defensive stability for Tucson.
"We're absolutely thrilled to have Marcel join the Muertos family," said General Manager Nissen. "He's a player with exceptional talent, a high hockey IQ, and a drive to win. His offensive numbers speak for themselves, but it's his complete game and leadership potential that truly set him apart. We believe he'll be a cornerstone of our defense for years to come, and his chemistry with Vanni should be exciting to watch right out of the gate."
Kacmarik expressed his excitement about joining the Muertos. "It's an incredible feeling to be drafted, and to be going to Tucson, a team with such a passionate fanbase and a clear vision for success, is just amazing," he shared at the post-draft press conference, holding up his new #8 Muertos jersey. "I'm eager to get to work, learn from Luke and the rest of the guys, and help bring a championship to Tucson."
The addition of Kacmarik is a significant move for the Muertos, who are looking to solidify their defense and add another offensive threat to their lineup. With the regular season fast approaching, all eyes will be on Marcel Kacmarik as he embarks on his LTLHL journey with the Tucson Muertos.

Muertos Add Merwin -

The Light The Lamp Hockey League (LTLHL) was shaken up last night by a major trade between the Muertos and the Blues. The deal involves significant talent on both sides, with each team aiming to solidify its roster for a deep playoff push.

Muertos Bolster Defense

The Muertos made a key move to strengthen their blue line, acquiring veteran right winger Errol Merwin (80 OV) from the Blues. Merwin, on a manageable $900,000 contract, is a solid two-way player who will bring much-needed defensive stability to the Muertos.

"I'm excited to join the Muertos and contribute to their success," said Merwin. "I'm looking forward to bringing my defensive game to this team and helping them achieve their goals."

Blues Acquire Offensive Talent

In exchange for Merwin, the Blues receive a significant offensive boost, landing veteran right winger Niclas Saarelainen (79 OV) and center John-Michael McDonough (80 OV). Saarelainen, a proven scorer with a $3.5 million contract, brings offensive firepower and leadership to the Blues. McDonough, on an $800,000 contract, adds scoring depth and playmaking ability.

Muertos Turning Things Around? -

As the Tucson Muertos reach the quarter season mark, they find themselves sitting in 6th place in the conference with a record of 9 wins, 7 losses, and 3 overtime losses for a total of 21 points. While they are not at the top of the standings, the team has some standout players who have contributed to their success so far this season.

One such player is 34-year-old center Zackary Nowry, who has tallied 10 goals and 14 assists in just 19 games played. His strong play has earned him a +8 rating and made him a crucial player on the ice. Joining Nowry in his impressive performance is 25-year-old right winger Niclas Saarelainen, who has also put up impressive numbers with 11 goals and 9 assists in 19 games played. While his +/- rating is even, his scoring touch has made him a dangerous player to watch.

Another player who has made an impact is 26-year-old right winger Brantley Langevin, who has 4 goals and 11 assists in 19 games played, contributing to the team's offensive production. Additionally, 35-year-old left winger Michal England has also been a valuable asset with 6 goals and 8 assists, and a +8 rating.

Despite the strong performances from these players, the team has struggled defensively. 19-year-old center Dalen Palmateer has struggled with a -7 rating, and the team's defense has been inconsistent, allowing too many goals. However, the team's 35-year-old defenseman Jordie Devincentis has contributed with 2 goals and 9 assists and a +1 rating, helping to stabilize the blue line.

In the net, the Muertos have relied on the strong play of 26-year-old goaltender Lars-Bjorn Sundholm, who has a record of 6-5-1 with a save percentage of 0.911 and goals against average of 2.90 in 13 games played. His backup, 24-year-old Dustin Tousignant, has also played well with a 3-2-2 record, a save percentage of 0.913, and goals against average of 3.20 in 7 games played.

As the Muertos prepare to take on the Los Angeles Dynasty on Wednesday, May 10th, they will need to continue to rely on their offensive weapons to put pucks in the net while tightening up their defensive play. If they can do so, they will have a good chance of coming away with a win and continuing their climb up the standings.

Overall, while the team has some areas to improve, they have a solid core of players who are capable of leading them to success. With some tweaks to their defensive play, the Muertos could be a force to be reckoned with as the season progresses.
