BOSTON - In a gripping showdown at the Militia home arena, fans were treated to a spectacle as the Militia triumphed over the Orcas in a nail-biting overtime clash. The final scoreline of 2-1 doesn't quite capture the intensity and drama that unfolded on the ice.
The Orcas struck first blood in the opening period, courtesy of a well-executed play finished off by Ora-Antti Selanne, who capitalized on a pass from Seikku Elenius to put the visitors ahead at 11:38. However, the Militia quickly found their rhythm and responded in the second period. Russ Berlin netted the equalizer for the home team, assisted by Odell Kell and Ezra Baskerville, at 3:05 into the period.
As the game progressed into the third period, both teams intensified their efforts, but neither could find the back of the net, leading to a tense stalemate. With the score deadlocked at 1-1, the contest entered overtime, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion.
It was in the overtime period that the Militia seized their opportunity to clinch victory. Amadeus Helm became the hero of the night, firing home the game-winning goal at 4:18 into the extra period, assisted by Pavel Boyko.
