Stingrays Acquire Ignat Mikhaltsov and Chipper Sammons from Twisters
Portland receives Jean-Francois Soehner, Yngve Hasselgren, and a Year 2 Third Round Pick
New Bedford, Mass. – Cape Cod Stingrays General Manager Alex Berard announced today, April 16, that the team has acquired forward Ignat Mikhaltsov and defenseman Chipper Sammons from the Portland Twisters in exchange for defenseman Jean-Francois Soehner, forward Yngve Hasselgren, and a Year 2 third-round draft pick.
Mikhaltsov, 29, has appeared in seven games for the Twisters in Year 1, recording one goal and one assists for two points and a minus-five rating. The Russian native was originally selected by Portland in the first round (9th overall) of the 2023 Inaugural Player Dispersal Draft.
Sammons, 35, has appeared in seven games for the Twisters in Year 1, recording two goals and one assist for three points and a minus-six rating. The United States native was originally selected by Portland in the fourth round (88thoverall) of the 2023 Inaugural Player Dispersal Draft.
Soehner, 29, has skated eight games for the Stingrays in Year 1, tallying two assists for two points and a minus-three rating. The Canadian native was acquired by Cape Cod in the 2023 Farm League Player Dispersal.
Hasselgren, 25, has skated two games for the Stingrays in Year 1, tallying one goal and one assist for two points and a minus-two rating. The Swedish native was recently acquired in free agency by the Stingrays on April 11, 2023.
